It’s so grateful to be able to visit Carema and other Alto Piemonte areas, which I have been interested for a while. But the most precious thing is that we were able to talk to the producers and try to understand what they are facing.
Monte Maletto, first vintage is 2015, is located in Carema, 500meter above sea level with glacier origin sand (mostly sand, 75%), low ph, very similar to Lessona. (Gattinara is another story with more volcanic, like Bramaterra) Here the nebbiolo is called Picotendro, which is very similar to nebbiolo lampia (mostly planted in Langhe). It’s very windy here and humidity cannot stay long, the average age of vineyard is 35-50 years old. I found the special pillar (which is called Pilun) very useful for the temperature adjustment, but it seems it is used less since it’s getting expensive.
It’s incredible to taste the wines in the stone cellar, tiny but cozy 😛 The wines are lovely, from a special erbaluce, Canavese nebbiolo to Carema. And of course, I love the Carema 2022 from the wood barrel the most 😛 The herbal, balsamic, minty note is amazing. Spicy and tannic. Well-done. The potential is vivid.

想去這產區拜訪很久了,但一直覺得像是遙遠的天邊,這次想說管他的,就去看一下啊,就這麼成真的,非常感謝酒莊們願意花時間為我們解釋及說明。對這產區,一直有很多的想像,以為到處都是那粗柱子,結果並沒有呢,因為缺工再加上有點貴,很多酒莊使用的數量少很多。
我們去參觀的這酒裝:Monte Maletto,最近在Vinous得到極佳的好評,但他依舊是非常低調非常感謝我們去參觀,真是有點不好意思!哈~酒莊第一個年份是2015,非常年輕,平均海拔500公尺,主要的土壤是冰河時期的沙土(sand),跟roero有點相似,ph值低。在這裡的Nebbiolo是稱為Picotendro,在這裡風大,潮濕度很不易久留,常常被會風吹走,葡萄園的平均年齡為35–50年。
非常樸實無華的酒窖,完全是用石頭所打造,莊主可以現場取酒給我們試喝 ,我們真的心存感激,最喜歡的就是從木桶取出的2022 Carema,香草、草本風味濃郁,很有意思的啊!
